July 16, 2009- The South Florida Business Journal (SFBJ) and CBIZ honored women in South Florida who are blazing trails, setting the pace and making a difference in the community. Women In Distress nominated our previous Board Member and long-term supporter, Marcia Barry-Smith/ Executive Director of the BankAtlantic Foundation and Senior Vice President of Community Relations for the 2009 Influential Business Women Award. We wanted to recognize Marcia's leadership, performance, innovation and for what she gives back to our community each and every day. SFBJ allowed Women In Distress the opportunity to have an auction/raffle at this event. More than $2,000 was raised to benefit WID's programs and services.

June 24, 2009- Women In Distress (WID) hosted an Open House at the new Jim and Jan Moran Family Center Campus in Deerfield Beach. Board members, trustees and community supporters of the agency were invited to learn more about the project and tour the site. Presenting sponsor, C.A. & Company Catering, provided wonderful food and service while guests heard from Deerfield Beach Mayor Peggy Noland and WID’s Capital Campaign leadership.
