Are you ready to plant the seeds of change, if so we want you!! Corps (AmeriCorps) members educate the public on Intimate Partner Violence and participate in other community service projects. Serving with AmeriCorps is a great way to contribute to your community while acquiring leadership skills, knowledge in the areas of Social Services and Domestic Violence, forming new social networks, and increasing public speaking ability.
AmeriCorps is a National Service Program, similar to the Peace Corps, except Peace Corps are sent out of the country. AmeriCorps Members stay to do service in the United States. It is an opportunity to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of those around you. It’s a chance to apply your skills and ideals toward helping others and meeting critical needs in the community.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Stipend: $11,800 for the year, divided equally and distributed bi-weekly throughout the year of service
- An AmeriCorps education award of $4,725 upon completion of service term
- Student loan forbearance (for qualifying student loans)

AmeriCorps Positions
We have filled all of our 2010-2011 AmeriCorps positions and are not expecting further applications at this time.
The following is a brief overview of the initiatives the members serve in.
Youth Prevention Educator: Corps Members will coordinate and facilitate three age-appropriate anti-violence curriculums to pre-k through 12th grade students. In addition, Corps Members will coordinate and facilitate intimate partner violence prevention presentations to local colleges.
Community Outreach Educator: Corps Members will organize and participate in community events engaging attendees in a discussion of domestic violence prevention. Corps Members will assist with development and dissemination of literature addressing intimate partner violence. Corps Members will also facilitate domestic violence prevention presentations to community-based groups, civic groups, medical communities, faith-based communities, and the media communities.
Legal Community Outreach Educator: Corps Members will reach out to individuals filing for restraining orders at the courthouse. Corps Members will coordinate and facilitate intimate partner violence trainings to legal and criminal justice professionals, as well as provide information about services available at WID.
Men and Boys Initiatives Educator: Corps Members will coordinate and facilitate intimate partner violence prevention curricula to men and boys specific groups, including high schools, clubs, juvenile detention centers, etc. Corps Members will also facilitate male support groups.
