Women In Distress assists participants with learning about their rights as victims of domestic violence. Advocates can help by filing victims’ compensation claims and accessing resources for assistance. Advocates assess participants' needs, work with them to develop a personalized safety plan, identify community resources, provide assistance in accessing those services, coordinate services, and follow-up.

The services offered at Women In Distress are essential to helping victims to stabilize their lives after victimization. Our services also help them understand, and participate in, the criminal justice system, and provide them with safe shelter, if needed.

Collaborations

Meeting the needs of all domestic violence victims requires effective collaboration between domestic violence service providers, victim advocates and experts. Women In Distress partners with a variety of community agencies within Broward County to provide neccessary services to domestic violence victims.
